Sencha CMD Windows Installation Manual
Sencha CMD is a cross-platform command line tool that provides many automated tasks around the full life-cycle of your applications from generating a new project to deploying an application to production.
In order to install and use the Sencha CMD follow the next steps:
- Install Requirements: Sencha CMD needs additional software to work correctly. The software needed and their download links are described below:
- Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.7:

- Ruby: Differs by OS
- Windows: http://rubyinstaller.org/downloads/
- Mac OS: Ruby is pre-installed.
- Ubuntu: Use sudo apt-get install ruby2.0.0 to download Ruby
- Packaging:
- Android: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
- iOS: https://developer.apple.com/xcode/
- Eclipse (Optional): http://www.eclipse.org/
- Add the install paths from ruby and java to your PATH environment variable:
- Go to ‘My Computer’ and left-click on the ‘Advance system settings’ button
- Go to the Advanced Tab and click on the ‘Environment Variables’ button.
- From the System Variables grid, select the Path variable and click on Edit button.
- Add the install paths from Java and Ruby in the variable value field and click Ok button.
- Download Sencha CMD: Use this link to download Sencha CMD. Chose between 64-bit or 32-bit according to your system.

- Extract and execute the Sencha CMD installer from the ZIP file you just downloaded.
- Follow the instructions from the wizard to install Sencha CMD
Use all default values:
- Test Sencha CMD: To test that Sencha CMD was installed correctly follow these steps:
- Open your Command Prompt console
- Change directory to your application folder
- Type the ‘Sencha’ command and hit Enter.
- You should see output that starts something like this:
