Object Management - Object Filter

Object Filter:

This document will cover the basics of the CM EvolveIT Object Management-Object Filter. There will be a discussion of how we use the Object Filter functionality to .  

After completing this document, you should have a basic understanding of the CM EvolveIT Plex/2e Object Filter and the different options available with it.  

 1. Log in to the dashboard with a valid dashboard user id:

The User requires ObjectFilter Permission​

2. Object Management - Object Filter:

The Object Filter helps users to view/hide objects during analysis with conditions created which is explained in detail in the article.
Navigation: Dashboard->Object Management->Object Filter.
It opens the object filter panel as below.
The application comes with a set of predefined filters as shown in below diagram.


3. Object Filter - Add New Filter:

We can add new filter based on our requirement. To add a new filter click on New button on the Object Filter screen as shown below:


It opens up Add Object Filter screen as below.

The panel will have three fields: Target Object Type, Filter text, Operator.
Target object type: It has drop down list of objects types to be chosen from. The objects types are shown below:

Filter Text: Enter the filter text with which you want your results to be filtered.
Operator: The field 'Operator' help to choose how to filter based on filter test. We have option to choose to filter results on Exact, Start with, End with, Contains, Regex.


There is 'Exclude section' to specify additional condition to exclude from the results from above filter.


To add an 'Exclude' condition, click on Add Condition. It makes Filter text Field and Operator to be visible.



Enter the filter text and operator too save exclude condition. In any case if the condition is needed to be deleted, there is 'Delete' button for performing that operation. 

Once all filter conditions are added, click on add button as shown below.
It then pops up a window to choose to add or not the filter condition.

If you choose No, then the record will be added the Object Filter screen with predefined column as Unchecked as shown below or if you choose Yes, the predefined column will be checked.

At any point, if we choose to change the filter text,operator or the object type, we can edit button in the Action column as shown below:

It opens up the 'Edit Object Filter' where we can make changes to filter. The operation will be same as Add Object Filter panel.

Click on Save to save the changes.
We can apply and revoke object filter. The buttons are present in the Action column in the Object Filter panel grid as shown in below figure. 
We can also delete the filter with Delete button in Action column of Object Filter Panel grid.






4. Use Case:

There is a predefined filter that filters functions starting with "Date/". 

Navigate to Dashboard->Object Browser->Function->Choose any function that has association with DATE library functions. Click Forward Detail-> From call Graph choose Full. The graph will be displayed as below with DATE functions hidden.


Now Navigate to Object Filter and revoke the filter. Then Click 'Yes' on the Confirm? window. Information panel pops up with information showing the number of objects becoming visible/invisible.




Now get back to Object Browser and navigate to full graph of function as done earlier and now we will be able to see the ojects that were hidden earlier due to filter.
